Justin Fields' Music Studio Policy*
*This policy is NOT for students who I teach through All Things Musik
Lessons: I teach 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute lessons Monday-Friday on a weekly basis out St. Bartholomew Catholic Church & School in Wayzata, where I am the Director of Music and Liturgy. I can also come to your home or teach remotely. I teach piano, voice, and music theory lessons.
Tuition: Fees for lessons are pre-paid at the beginning of each month depending on the lessons we plan for the month. If a parent or student does not want to yet commit to a month of lessons, they are free to pay for only the first lesson, and then paying monthly thereafter.
The current fees are:
$30 for a 30 minute lesson
$40 for a 45 minute lesson
$50 for an hour lesson
Parents and/or the student are also responsible for the costs of any piano books or music books purchased for lessons. For lessons at your own home, an additional travel fee may be added depending on how much travel is involved on my end.
Expectations: Students are expected to bring all music and assignment books to each lesson. Practice time and commitment are determined on an individual basis, depending on the student's level, age, and goals. Even with limited practice time, there is always a lot to learn, so don't worry if you feel that you or your child might not have enough time to practice!
For piano lessons, it is strongly encouraged that students have a weighted key digital piano or acoustic piano in their home so that they can practice. Feel free to ask for suggestions if you need to purchase one.
Cancellations, No-Show's, and Make-Up Lessons:
If any lessons are cancelled with more than 24 hour notice (by the student or myself), the student is given a make-up lesson.
If a lesson is cancelled by the parent or student within 24 hours, no make-up will be scheduled and no refund will be issued.
If a student does not show up for a lesson, no make-up will be scheduled and no refund will be issued.
If the lesson is canceled by the teacher within 24 hours, either a refund will be issued or a make-up lesson can be scheduled, depending on the preferences of the student and/or parent.
If a parent or student wishes to discontinue lessons, a one month notice is required. Students will not receive a refund if they discontinue lessons and still have paid-for lessons scheduled
I understand that scheduling can change quickly, but please know that your time-slot is set aside specifically for you or your child. If given a a notice of more than 24 hours I am more than happy to accommodate with make-up lessons.
Onboarding: A form is to be filled out by any new student or their parent.
Safe Environment: Parents are always welcome to sit in on a lesson. All communication with students who are minors and myself will take place only through the parent or guardian of the student. I will never email or text with a student directly. I take the safety of children as a top priority and will not tolerate any deviation from my studio policy as it regards to maintaining a safe environment.
